An identity refresh that puts graduates work at the centre.

UAL Showcase is an always-on global platform that provides a space for recent graduates to share their work and make connections.

With a proposition refresh in 2024 centred on celebrating graduate work and shaping creative industries, and three years on from the previous design iteration, the identity needed a way to bring individual voices in without losing the recognition and coherence that the platform had been building.

Visual system overview

The identity refresh is built around one idea: the graduates at the centre. Frames remained the main graphic device, referencing screens and access to work online. By introducing a secondary colour drawn directly from each student's work, the identity elevated the individual without fragmenting the whole. It kept core black and white for institutional messaging across colleges, and introduced colour for college-specific messaging, spotlighting graduates from different practices.

Page views up 109%. Showcase has been viewed in 197 countries and territories in the last year. Users up 68%. 30% of 2023-24 graduates who responded to the Showcase survey have been contacted regarding a sale, commission, paid work, or feature. QR code scans up 76%. Featured in It's Nice That and The Face.
