Brand system for Knowledge Exchange, UAL's bridge between its academic community and the external world.
UAL Knowledge Exchange connects the university's students, graduates, and academics with businesses, communities, policymakers and other institutions. It operates within UAL's brand but needed its own visual identity to address a wider and more varied audiences.
KE sits at a junction: between the university and the commercial world, between internal staff and senior external partners, between playful community engagement and formal institutional positioning. The system had to hold all of them without becoming generic.

The identity centres on connectivity. Nodes and branches, the structural vocabulary of networks, became the main graphic device. The colour logic handles the audience shift. Bright yellow and aqua carry the community and staff-facing side. Black and white shift the same system toward the institutional side.





In active use since 2022. Staff Awards events from 2021 to date. Staff engagement improved throughout the years, getting people applying for the awards. The system is now recognised, aligning more and more KE materials for consistent messaging.
